This tamarack wood slice features a baby penguin that has been wood burned by hand. If you look closer you can see tiny details like the individual hairs and the wrinkles on the feet. I chose to not add color to this piece because I didn’t want to cover up those details. Two coats of polyurethane have been applied to help protect against the element. I recommend that you do not display in direct UV light as this will cause the burn to fade. This wood burned penguin will last many years even generations if well cared for and kept away from UV light. I have wood burned my signature on the back and attached a metal hanger.
